Volunteers needed for Dementia Day Service
We are looking for volunteers to support our friendly team here at Days at the Haven. Volunteers help us make clients feel welcome, safe and happy.
Days at the Haven is run by Age Concern Southend and located within the Haven Community Hub on Hamlet Court Road. The Day Centre offers quality, bespoke respite care in both full day and half day sessions for those suffering from Dementia and other neurological disorders. The centre is run by staff with the assistance of volunteers and holds up to 10 clients a day.
As a volunteer, you will be required to help with the daily activity programme, be friendly and chatty, willing to assist clients – supported by our guidelines. A background in care is not essential but is beneficial and knowledge of Dementia is helpful. A supervisor will support you through induction and training and provide ongoing and regular supervision.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop new and existing skills in a rewarding role. You’ll be working in the heart of your local community, you’ll meet new people and be part of an enthusiastic team.
